Affordable Housing

If you are looking for an "affordable" home that is adapted or accessible in the housing association or local authority sector, we are pleased to be working with a growing number of partners to provide information.

Accessible Housing Registers are now being introduced across the UK providing on-line housing lettings for disabled people. They are to offer more housing options and increased choice about location.

Accessahome is a specialist on-line accessible housing register service operated by Ability Housing Association and is currently available in areas covered by the following participating authorities:

  • Reading Borough Council in Berkshire
  • East Hampshire District, Test Valley District Council and Gosport Borough Council in Hampshire
  • Adur District Council, Arun District Council and Worthing Borough Council in West Sussex

Ability has agreed a partnership with Locata Housing Services (see below) that will make Access a home available in many more areas in the near future.

Locata operates Choice Based Lettings schemes in:

  • The London Boroughs of Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith, Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon and Hounslow
  • Southampton
  • Brighton
  • Harlow, Essex
  • and Stevenage, Hertfordshire

They will shortly be extending their services into other areas of Sussex and West Berkshire.

Home Connections seeks to integrate accessible housing into choice-based letting and has developed a toolkit for an accessible housing register.

  • Home Connections provides an Accessible Housing Register for Walsall Adapted Housing Service - a unique service run by a disability organisation
  • Home Connections covers the London Boroughs of Camden, Islington, Barnet, Haringey, Enfield, Merton, The City of Westminster, The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea and The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames
